Raiders Start, Finish Strong at Peoria

Monday, September 11 2017 - Peoria First to the Finish

Raiders start, finish strong!

First To The Finish - Detweiler Park, Peoria  9/09/17

On the 5:30 am trip down to Peoria, the girls, Mr. Bledsoe, and Mr. Singleton were all sleeping. This would be a good sign of things to come.  13th, 6th, and 9th.   Those rankings are what the Glenbard South Girls Cross Country team has been ranked at our Sectional.  Only the Top 5 teams advance to the State meet.  Our performance at the FTTF Invitational has changed all of that.  We are now ranked 4th!  However, we can’t afford to be complacent.  We are only as good as our last race.  To be honest, we were pretty good!  14 of the 17 girls who finished the race had personal records!  10 of those 14 girls ran career bests.  That’s incredible. Furthermore, we didn’t see any fear.  For our freshman, this is the largest competitor race they will see in their high school careers.  The Varsity race feature about 560 competitors while the Open race featured a staggering 811 racers.  Wow. I just have to say that I really enjoy watching these young women compete!  Where do we go from here?  Only time will tell but suddenly it looks like we may have a shot at running as a team at the state meet in November.  Congratulations go out to our Raiders of The Meet Kelly Anderson and Danae Kay.   Next up - The Spartan Invite!
