One step forwards, 2 steps back!
At the beginning of the season, we set the lofty goal or returning to the State Meet. After a mixed bag of results on Saturday, our Varsity season is in need of a fresh start. It's certainly frustrating when we are dealing with injuries but it should not be an excuse for less than stellar individual performances. The course was in great shape and the weather was ideal. So what's the problem? Only you as an individual can answer that. "I'm not feeling it" is just an excuse to not perform. Here's a newsflash....your teammates are counting on you! Figure it out fast because the season is flying by. On the upside, we had some great performances. Starting with the Varsity Kylie DeNardo had a 90 sec PR to finish in the Top 100. Mikayla Jacoby ran a career best as did teammate Alex Gonzalez. The Open girls were led by Alyssa Kain's 5+ minute improvement, Naomi Friedman's almost 3 min improvement, Erin Sowl's career best by over a minute, and Shayan Malik's course PR! We also witnessed the stellar debuts of Amanda Rojas and Katrine Krokas! Welcome to Cross Country! So what's next? We have the St. Francis meet on Friday followed by a week without a meet. We need to get healthy, train hard, and get serious. By the way, we can have fun and be serious at the same time. Both of those concepts are not mutually exclusive of each other! Special thanks go out to the DeNardo and Stewart families for hosting our first pasta dinners and to Mrs. Salt for coordinating the efforts!
