"In Order To Run Fast......"

Saturday, September 7 2019 - Harvest Christian Fall Classic

Harvest Fall Classic Invitational. September 7th, 2019
On a beautiful September morning, the Raiders came Ready To Rumble! The Harvest course is no joke as it's filled with hills and with those hills comes some downhill opportunities. To quote a former GSHS Girls Cross Country coach, "In order to run fast, you have to run fast!" As a coach, we look forward to the days you race, plain and simple. You put the work in and you get to reap the rewards. Sometimes things aren't perfect, but it's important to adapt to the circumstances. I think you all did that today. What made it extra special is you all were here and competing.......and you all finished! It was a PR kind of a day with all 17 of you running a meet PR and/or a career PR! How wonderful is that? Your efforts led you to a 3rd place finish on the JV and a 2nd on the Varsity! It's funny how things take care of themselves when you focus on running your race. While everyone ran well, I think there were a few exceptional performances. Alyssa Kain and Alex Gonzalez ran career PR's on the Varsity, Maggie Riley had a 5 min. PR, Sarah Ledford broke 30 minutes for the first time, Kylie Graiber "Shocked the World," Amara Bodine fought the whole way, and Shayan Malik had her best race at Harvest ever! I don't know about you but I'm excited on how this season is progressing! A special thanks goes out to the Sowl's for hosting the pasta party and to Erin Sowl for providing the sing-a-long songs! Next Saturday it's a very early morning as we travel to Peoria to run on the State Meet Course! I can't wait!
